DHS ‘Hurricane 8’ is a sticky tension rubber newly introduced by DHS to respond to the ABS ball era. Differently from existing ‘Hurricane’ series whose ‘tension’ versions are distinguished by ‘NEO’, ‘Hurricane 8’ doesn’t have the word ‘NEO’ in front of its name. The characteristic of ‘Hurricane 8’ is that it provides higher speed than existing DHS sticky rubbers. DHS is explaining that newly developed tension sponge of ‘Hurricane 8’ is around 15% more elastic than existing sponges. Players can select between two sponge densities – MID and HARD. MID is 39° in DHS standard (= 51~52° in German standard), and HARD is 40° in DHS standard (= 52~53° in German standard). ‘Hurricane 8’ is comparable to some new German sticky tension rubbers those provide higher speed than conventional sticky rubbers, and is also recommende for the players who first use Chinese sticky rubber.

The feeling of the top sheet is similar to that of conventional DHS sticky rubber. And, the adhesiveness isn’t strong.

On the paper packaging, there are icons those expresses that this rubber is developed for poly-ball era, has integrated tension effect and provides not only good spin but also high speed.

On the backside of packaging, it is described that this rubber is ‘tension’ rubber.

The sealed packaging is designed to be easily opened by pulling.

Inside the outer packaging, the rubber is completely sealed by transparent plastic casing.

The surface of top sheet is covered by a thin transparent vinyl.

Because this rubber is the ordinary version, the shape is an octagon shape whose four corners are cut off. (In case of special province team version, only two corners are cut off. And, in case of the national team version, no corner is cut off.)

The bubble of sponge isn’t seen by bare eyes. The tension effect is obtained by the booster treatment at factory. For that reason, the rubber is sealed in a transparent plastic case to prevent the booster from evaporating and losing its tension effect.

The sheet is thick, and the pimple is low and densely arranged. That is similar to the structure of conventional DHS sticky rubbers such as ‘Neo Hurricane 3’.

Hi,
Could you please let us know your view on Andro Rasanter 53 (Forehand)and 48(Backhand). And what blade is suitable for offensive play for this rubbers. Hitting heavy (very fast) topspin and occasional looping

Which one do you mean between C and R? (There are C48, C53, R48 and R53 in Rasanter EC series.)
By the way, without concerning the kinds of rubbers, in fact there isn’t definite answer for the combination. What is your current combination, and which point do you want to improve?

Hi, Currently I am playing with R53 + R 48 + Andro Core 7 offensive + Blade. I am not a beginner (2000+ player) also not a Pro. I can hit hard/very fast topspin but I don’t get a feel on my bat. I am just thinking of using All+ or Off- Blade though not sure how it will help me to get more dwell time or improve my game. Any thoughts please. Thanks in advance.

I don’t have Core 7 OFF and therefore I can’t tell exact data of it. However, frrom the construction of Core 7 OFF I can gest the values. Especially vibration indices. Its Vp will be around 1.2, and Vl will be around 1.1. It feels relatively soft at finger. This is no more than prediction, but at least it will not be a blade that gives sharp feeling at finger.
So changing your blade to softer and slower one can be a right way. But, you havd to be careful because there are many ALL+ class blades whose vibration characteristic is similar to the assumed data of Core 7 OFF. I recommend you the blade whose second layer looks like a dotted line, without concerning the speed class. Then that blade will give you very clear feeling.
But, that isn’t concerned with dwelling time. The actual dwelling time is around 1/1000 second. And, that dwelling time isn’t decided by blade or rubber but by the deformation of ball. Most of the feeling is the result of the residual vibration after the ball left the surface of rubber. The dwelling time doesn’t vary by changing blade. What varies is the vibration that remains for some time after the ball has gone.
Nevertheless the feeling is important because player can ‘adjust’ the way of hitting by feeling the vibration in repetitive training.

Thanks for the explanation. My blade is Andro core off plus ( not core offensive). Will it make any difference in term of control and hitting hard topspins if I change to Off/Off minus/ All plus blade. Also could you suggest any with mentioned Rubbers. Many thanks.

I recommend you not to keep the level of speed in some level and just adjust the feeling.
Then DHS ‘Hurricane Long 3’ may be good solution in this case. It is a 7-ply wood blade but will give you very sharp feeling.
If it is difficult to get that blade, please once try the standard 5-ply wood offensive blade – Butterfly ‘Korbel’.
(In fact, the playing characteristics of those two blades are quite similar to each other although one is 5-ply wood blade and the other is 7-ply.)

thanks for your help, can these rubbers be used with butterfly Fan zhendong zlc or Alc for generating faster/spiny topspin midway from table?

Basically, sticky rubbers are not recommended for topspin from mid-distance area. But, at least Hurricane 8 will be easier to use at mid-distance area when compared with Hurricane 3 or Neo Hurricane 3.
If you want to seamlessly perform mid-distance topspin by sticky rubbers, I recommend new German hybrid rubbers such as andro NUZN 50. Hybrid (= the combination with sticky top sheet whose stickiness is weakened and tension sponge of new generation) rubbers can make faster and more powerful balls than Hurricane 8 at mid-distance area.
