Work of TTGearLab :

(1) The concept of blade family

(2) Designing the constructions of one new model (using performance indices)

(3) Designing the shape of new small lens

(4) Overall graphic design (under the design rule of adidas)

Strike series was the blade family consists of three models developed for Asian market – especially Chinese market. Among three models of Strike series, only one model was completely new one. The other two was the redesigned modeled of existing adidas blades. ReDATT newly developed the construction of Strike Carbon which is the top model of the series, and worked for the graphic design of all three models. The graphic design of Strike series is based on that of Avenger series and Challenge series. However, the font for the printing was replaced with the standard font of adidas, and new lens shape was applied. The new small lens is to minimize the disturbance to finger by lens.

The blade at left side in above picture is Strike Carbon which is a very fast 3+2 ply ‘Hinoki Carbon’ blade. 3+2 ply Hinoki Carbon is quite common construction for fast blade in Asian market, and there are many similar models in the market. But, to make the optimum performance ReDATT carefully adjusted the thickness of each layer.

Strike Wood 7 and Strike Wood 5 were planned as low-cost blades to expand the Asian market. The constructions were borrowed from two existing models – Challenge Speed and C100. And, for the reduction of cost, the graphic design of those two were made very simple, and shakehand ST handle versions were not produced.

The blade at center in the picture is Strike Wood 7 which is a 7-ply wood blade. It is the redesigned model from Challenge Speed. Therefore, its characteristics are same as those of Challenge Speed. Strike Wood 7 is dealt as the low cost version of Challenge Speed.

And, The blade at right side in the picture is Strike Wood 5 which is a 5-ply wood blade. It is the redesigned model from C100 which is the most popular model among the first adidas models.

All three models were dealt as local models just for Asian market (excluding Japanese market). Therefore, those were not launched in European market.

Following are the performance indices of Strike series :

Strike Carbon

  – Ep = 2.93

  – Ec = 3.28 (Ec/Ep = 1.12)

  – Vp = 1.68

  – Vl = 1.40 (Vl/Vp = 0.83)

Strike Wood 7

  – Ep = 2.45

  – Ec = 2.30 (Ec/Ep = 0.94)

  – Vp = 1.38

  – Vl = 1.27 (Vl/Vp = 0.92)

Strike Wood 5

  – Ep = 1.61

  – Ec = 1.52 (Ec/Ep = 0.95)

  – Vp = 1.21

  – Vl = 1.31 (Vl/Vp = 1.08)
