Released in 2026, the DONIC ‘Coton Relevant’ is a fiber blade developed by DONIC for Flavien Coton, the 17-year-old French table tennis prodigy who is the 2025 European U21 champion and one of Europe’s most promising young players.  Combining a traditional, all-wood feel with the stability of modern advanced technology, this blade is based on a classic 5-ply offensive Limba-Ayous wood structure that delivers a delicate touch and control. High-strength Certran Fiber — a material also used in premium fishing lines — enhances power and dampens vibrations to enable precise attacks. DONIC recommends this blade as an ideal choice for players seeking a perfect balance of dynamism and stability.

As its name expresses, ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is the blade made for French player Flavien Coton. It features ‘Certran Fiber’ as its artificial material, constructed with an outer-type structure to maximize performance. The handle design inspired by French national flag gives striking impression. Currently ‘Coton Relevant’ is one of the most important models in Donic blade range.

The construction of ‘Coton Relevant’ is an ‘outer-type’ construction with Limba top layer, but it is somewhat different from ordinary outer-type constructions with Limba top layer. The top layer and the middle layer are very thin Limba, and the center layer is Ayous. Certran fiber is inserted directly under the top layer. Overall thickness is around 5.5mm. It is significantly different from ordinary outer-type construction whose middle layer and center layer are Ayous and Kiri respectively. The Limba/Limba/Ayous construction is commonly found in offensive 5-ply wood blades such as ‘Korbel’. ‘Coton Relevant’ can be considered a blade that enhances flexibility by reducing the thickness of an offensive 5-ply wood construction, while reinforcing power and speed with artificial material.

The size of head is around 157mm x 150mm which is the common head size of most of recent offensive blades. (The measured size is around 156.6mm x 151mm.)

The shape of FL (flared) handle is semi-wide type, and is similar to the semi-wide type of Butterfly (for example the FL of ‘Viscaria’). The width of FL (flared) handle is around 24.5mm (at head side) ~ 28 mm (at bulge) ~ 26.5mm (at narrowest point) ~ 32mm (at the end). And, the thickness of FL handle is around 22.5mm (at thumb) ~ 24.5mm (at the end). The size of ST hasn’t been measured yet.

On the foreside of head, the logo depicting C.F. which is the initials of Flavien Coton is printed along with the product name. Below that the name of artificial material, the construction and the recommended playing styles (= AR+/OFF-) are indicated. Donic doesn’t use the signs such as AR+ or OFF- for expressing speed level but for indicating the recommended playing style. ‘AR’ means aggressive all-round style, ‘OFF-‘ means continuous offensive style which lays emphasis on the safety, and ‘OFF’ means ordinary offensive play which is more aggressive than OFF-. If the blade fits for very aggressive playing style, it is indicated as ‘OFF+’.

At the foreside of handle, transparent plastic lens of ordinary shape is applied. Donic logo and the product name are printed in the lens. This type of lens and the layout of inside printing has been applied for most of Donic blades since late 1990’s.

Squared aluminum plate with Donic logo is applied at the end of handle. The text in the end plate is current slogan of Donic – “Donic create(s) success.”

Nothing is printed on the backside of head.

The signature of Flavien Coton is printed in the circular lens at the backside of handle.

The table tennis blades created for French players often feature designs inspired by the Tricolour, the French national flag, and this blade is no exception.

‘Coton Relevant’ is the blade developed in Germany and produced in China. But its build quality is as high as that of the old Donic blades produced in Sweden.

True to its name (Relevant), the ‘Coton Relevant’ is a blade designed to pursue “relevance” and appropriateness rather than excessive bounce. Features such as moderate bounce without excess, a ball-keeping feel that softly hugs the ball, and precise control capabilities align exceptionally well with Flavien Coton’s style. Furthermore, it is expected to offer characteristics that make it an ideal choice for many players who aim to win through continuous topspin strategy.

Following are the performance indices of Coton Relevant (avg.weight = 87.1) :

– Ep = 1.65

– Ec = 1.24 (Ec/Ep = 0.75)

– Vp = 1.06

– Vl = 1.26 (Vl/Vp = 1.19)

Please note that above are average values and can be updated by further measurement.
