Work of TTGearLab :
(1) The concept of blade
(2) Designing the constructions of plywoods (using performance indices)
(3) Refinement of the graphic design for mass production (Original design was done by a German company)
ProTex series is the new blade family that consist of inner-fiber blades. After the testing of the samples with various fibers, BlueTex fiber (= Texailum) and RX-Carbon were selected as the fibers for inner fiber blades. (adidas called Texalium as BlueTex fiber because of the problem of trademark issue. Only some compaines can call it as ‘Texalium’.) BlueTex fiber is for low cost blades, and RX-Carbon is for more expensive blades. The inner-fiber blades with Texalium were launched as ProTex series, but the inner-fiber blades with RX-Carbon those were planned to be launched in 2016 couldn’t be launched.

ProTex series is the first blade family that was named by new naming rule of adidas table tennis = ‘series name’ + ‘alphabet that represent the position of the series’ + ‘number’. ProTex series consists of two models – ProTex D30 and ProTex D20. ‘D’ means that those the speed of two blades is moderate. And, higher number represents the faster blade in the series. ProTex D30 is relatively faster one for the players who play with continuous topspin or very fast topspin at close-to-table area. ProTex D20 is an all-round blade which provides absolute level of safety. ProTex series was positioned at lower place than Hypertouch that was the representative offensive blade of adidas at that time.
ReDATT didn’t originally participated in the graphic design of these two models. However, ReDATT did the refinement of graphic design before the stage of mass production, because the graphic data had to be adjusted to the data that blade factory needed.
Following are the performance indices of ProTex series :
ProTex D30
– Ep = 1.45
– Ec = 1.33 (Ec/Ep = 0.92)
– Vp = 1.08
– Vl = 1.15 (Vl/Vp = 1.06)
ProTex D20
– Ep = 1.33
– Ec = 1.26 (Ec/Ep = 0.95)
– Vp = 1.08
– Vl = 1.14 (Vl/Vp = 1.06)
