Donic ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’, released in 2024, is the signature blade developed by Donic for promising Danish player, Anders Lind (Anders Von Lavergne Pegu Lind). Anders Lind is a left-handed player who plays with an aggressive yet very creative style. His strawberry flick is particularly impressive. He is expected to be one of new top players who will represent European table tennis in the future, and he has reached the quarter-finals in 2023 WTTC. Donic developed ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ which is a new top model in Donic blade range, reflecting the opinions of Anders Lind. ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is an inner-type fiber blade, but it is designed to be used in a similar playing style to outer-type fiber blades such as Butterfly ‘Viscaria’. With this new blade, Anders Lind defeated Wang Chuqin who is current World MS Champion at WTT China Smash 2024.

As its name expresses, ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is the blade made for Danish player Anders Lind. Also as its name expresses, its artificial material is ‘Hexamid Carbon’. The handle design inspired by Danish national flag is impressive. Currently ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is one of the most important models in Donic blade range. It would not be an exaggeration to say that ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is the blade that practically represents Donic blades.

The construction of ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is an ‘inner-type’ construction, but it is somewhat different from ordinary inner-type constructions with Limba top layer. The top layer is Koto, the middle layer is Limba, and the center layer is Kiri. Hexamid Carbon, which is the mixed woven of PA6 fiber (= hexa-type polyamide fiber) and carbon fiber, is inserted between the middle layer and the center layer. Overall thickness is around 5.7mm. (It is actually measured value. The official thickness is 5.6mm.) We can expect higher elasticity than ordinary inner-type blades because the top layer and the middle layer are stiffer than the woods for ordinary inner-type blades. The result of measurement (shown at the end of this article) is also indicating that the elasticity of ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is very high.

The size of head is around 157mm x 150mm which is the common head size of most of recent offensive blades.

The shape of FL (flared) handle is semi-wide type, but somewhat different from the semi-wide type of Butterfly (for example the FL of ‘Viscaria’). The width of FL (flared) handle is around 24mm (at head side) ~ 27.5 mm (at bulge) ~ 26.5mm (at narrowest point) ~ 33mm (at the end). And, the thickness of FL handle is around 22.5mm (at thumb) ~ 24.5mm (at the end). The size of ST hasn’t been measured yet.

On the foreside of head, the logo depicting A.L. which is the initials of Anders Lind is printed along with the product name. Below that the name of artificial material, the construction and the recommended playing styles (= OFF-/OFF) are indicated. Donic doesn’t use the signs such as OFF- or OFF for expressing speed level but for indicating the recommended playing style. ‘OFF-‘ means continuous offensive style which lays emphasis on the safety, and ‘OFF’ means ordinary offensive play which is more aggressive than OFF-. If the blade fits for very aggressive playing style, it is indicated as ‘OFF+’.

At the foreside of handle, transparent plastic lens of ordinary shape is applied. Donic logo and the product name are printed in the lens. This type of lens and the layout of inside printing has been applied for most of Donic blades since late 1990’s.

Squared aluminum plate with Donic logo is applied at the end of handle. The text in the end plate is current slogan of Donic – “Donic create(s) success.”

Nothing is printed on the backside of head, other than the country of origin notation at the bottom.

For long time Donic blade range had been represented by many blades of ‘Persson’ series and ‘Waldner’ series. But now Donic is signing new top players and releasing new signature blades those will newly represent Donic, such as ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ (left) for Danish Anders Lind and ‘Skachkov Carbon’ (right) for another European top player Kirill Skachkov. Both of those two are signature blades for top players but provided in reasonable prices.

‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ (left) and ‘Skachkov Carbon’ (right) are fiber blades of inner-type and outer-type respectively.

The white cross on the red background which is inspired by Danish national flag looks impressive. Red is used as a theme color throughout the graphic design of ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’.

‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is the blade developed in Germany and produced in China. But its build quality is as high as that of the old Donic blades produced in Sweden.

Donic is a top European maker which has provided rubber and blades to many top players for long time, winning many big titles including 17 WTTC titles. The box of ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ displays the slogan ‘DONIC CREATE SUCCESS’ along with the number of big titles won by players who have used Donic products.

‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is an inner-type fiber blade, but it overall characteristics can be compared with those of outer-type blades. That is because the needs of Ander Lind who uses this blade is being reflected during the development process. Donic is explaining that this blade provides high level of speed and spin without losing control. And, another advantage of ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is more natural feeling than outer-type blades of similar speed level thanks to the deeper location of artificial fiber. ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ is strongly recommended for the players who want to use thin and fast fiber blade but don’t like the feeling of outer-type fiber blades such as ‘Viscaria’. The inner-type blade with improved elasticity like ‘Anders Lind HexaCarbon’ may become the new mainstream of future table tennis.
