Butterfly ‘Glayzer’ is non-sticky version of ‘Glayzer’ series introduced in the spring of 2023, and it was launched at the same time with its sticky version – ‘Glayzer 09c’. ‘Glayzer’ series is made by Butterfly’s latest tecnology applied to the top rubber family of Butterfly – ‘Dignics’ series. But, the characteristics have been adjusted to fit for ordinary players while ‘Dignics’ series aim at top players. (The relationshp between ‘Glayzer’ series and ‘Dignics’ series is same as the relationship between ‘Rozena’ and ‘Tenergy’ series.) The top sheet of ‘Glayzer’ is based on that of ‘Dignics 05’, while the top sheet of ‘Glayzer 09c’ is based on that of ‘Dignics 09c’. The ‘Spring Sponge X’ of ‘Dignics’ series is also applied for ‘Glayzer’ series, but the sponge hardness is reduced by 2 degree for more ease of use. The sponge density of ‘Glayzer’ is 38 degree under Butterfly standard (= around 50 degree under ESN standard). It is softer than the sponge of ‘Dignics 05’ (= 40 degree under Butterfly standard) and harder than that of ‘Tenergy 05’ (= 36 degree under Butterfly standard). However, according to Butterfly, players will not feel that ‘Glayzer’ is harder than ‘Tenergy 05’, because new ‘Spring Sponge X’ deforms 14% more than ‘Spring Sponge’ in case the impact speed is identical. With the announcement of the ‘Glayzer’ series, Butterfly renewed its rubber performance indices for the first time in 30 years. According to this indices, ‘Glayzer’ has lower spin performance and speed performance than ‘Tenergy 05’, but instead has better performance of drawing arc. Compared to ‘Tenergy 64’, it has better spin performance and arc drawing performance. Unlike ‘Rozena’ that makes faster ball whose trajectory is somewhat linear, ‘Glayzer’ is the rubber that is focused on the stability of drawing arc. Butterfly is explaining that, for ordinary players, ‘Glayzer’ will be much easier to use whan compared with ‘Dignics’ series.

‘Glayzer’ is based on ‘Dignics 05’. But, it is easier to use, and its price is more reasonable than that of ‘Dignics 05’.

Butterfly is appling this unified design of packaging from 2014. The accent color of ‘Glayzer’ is yellow.

The characteristics of rubber is explained in four languages on the backside of packaging.

Butterfly is explaining that ‘Glayzer’ is a high-performance rubber that combines power and stable trajectory.

In the packaging, the surface of top sheet is covered only by protection paper, while its sticky version – ‘Glayzer 09c’ is covered by both of paper and plastic cover.

Top sheet is very similar to that of ‘Dignics 05’.

The color of sponge is gray. This is ‘Spring Sponge X’ that is basically same as that for ‘Dignics 05’, but the sponge density is lower by 2 degree than that of ‘Dignics 05’.

Sponge density is 38 degree (in Butterfly standard). It is around 50 degree in ESN standard. It is harder than the 36 degree sponge of ‘Tenergy 05’. But, thanks to lower damping, player feels that ‘Glayzer’ is softer than ‘Tenergy 05’.

The constuction of top sheet is same as that for ‘Dignics 05’ or ‘Tenergy 05’. Pimples are densely arranged, and the height of pimple is normal. Two thicknesses – 2.0mm and 2.2mm – are available. Thinner sponges are not provided.

Top sheet is available in two colors – red and black. Blue, pink or green are not available.

Butterfly is explaining that the spin performance is lower than that of ‘Dignics’ series and ‘Tenergy 05’. However, it is difficult for ordinary players to feel that the spin performance of ‘Glayzer’ is lower than that of two more expensive rubbers. In simple testing at table tennis court, ‘Glayzer’ performed very well. It is very easy to use, and the spin performance is very satisfactory. Most of all, it draws really impressive arcs. For ordinary players, there will not be any need for considering more expensive ‘Dignics 05’ for best result in game. ‘Glayzer’ will be able to become another bestseller following ‘Rozena’ if it is widely accepted by ordinary players. The challenge for ‘Glayzer’ will be how to overcome the competition with many German tension rubbers those also provide good performance with similar or even lower prices.

Hi,
Wondering how the Glayzer compares with Rozena in control, speed and spin? Also how does the Yasaka Razka 7 & X compare with those butterfly models? Thanks

Rozena is more biased to speed while Glazer is more biased to spin. And, Rozena is purely focused on entry ~ intermeditate players, while Glazer fits also for skilled or professional players (although Butterfly is recommending it also for beginners.)
If you focuses on ‘ease of use’, and it is OK that rubber doesn’t produce strong spin, Rozena will be all right. But, you want to control the ball precisely and want to make strong spin, Glazer should be the selection.
Glazer is the same kind of Rakza 7, Rakza X, Tenergy 05 and Dignics 05. (It lays emphasis on spin performance.) But, it is newer than Rakza 7 or Tenergy 05. You’d better think that it is a variation of Dignics 05, differently speaking softer and easier to use version of Dignics 05. (But, please note that although it is softer than Dignics 05, its sponge is still harder than those of Rakza 7/X and Tenergy 05.)

Thank you so much for your work! Based on it, I decided to buy this rubber and did not regret it. The balance of speed, rotation and control is amazing. My topspin on the right has become much more dangerous and stable. There is still a setup on the left, but it’s only a matter of time. The engagement is excellent. The rubber is light, which is good for the balance of the racket. Glued to the butterfly ai fukuhara pro ZLF blade. I’ll try out glayzer09c later and decide which is better. But this new series definitely deserves the attention of board game lovers.

I personally think that Glayzer may be the best Butterfly rubber for most of players. I agree with you in everything. 🙂
BTW, Glayzer 09c will be totally different from Glayzer because it is the softer version of Dignics 09c. It is also a very good rubber. (Maybe better than Dignics 09c for most of players.) But, the difference from non-sticky rubber may cause some difficulties.

I have both the G09c on FH and Glayzer on BH on Harimoto SALC and boy it worked really well. The control is amazing. Serve and receive with no issues. Looping on both wings are great and very stable.
The only drawback is that one might feel like wanting an upgrade to D05 and D09c respectively but i think for most people it isnt necessary. And the difference of few degrees here and there wont make that much difference.
My question is this. Dignics are lauded with durability. I’m wondering how Glayzer series will perform in the long run. Any ideas?

Thank you for sharing your experience.
I think that the durability of Glayzer will be also good. It is produced by same technology as Dignics series.
The durability of Glayzer/Glayzer 09c may be a bit worse than that of Dignics 05/Dignics 09c because of softer sponges. But, the difference will not be significant.
